What is Recyclobot?

Recyclobot is an initiative to increase the recycling rate in Australia, which is fully owned by Recyclobot Pty Ltd. It offers a $0.10 refund to users for depositing eligible containers to our Bot (Reverse Vending Machine).

What is a Bot-Reverse Vending Machine (RVM)?

A Bot is a reverse vending machine that accepts used, empty and eligible containers that provides $0.10 credits for the user to recycle. Instead of depositing money into the machine and receiving a product, the user inserts the empty container into the machine, and the machine verifies the container by scanning the barcode.

Once the container is accepted, the machine provides the user with $0.10 credits, which will be reflected in the user's Recyclobot mobile App. The machine then stores the recycled materials for processing and reuse.

How does Recyclobot work?

Download Recyclobot mobile application and Sign up. Once signed up each user will get their unique barcode generated by our mobile app. Scan the barcode from the Recyclobot mobile app to the Bot scanner, then deposit eligible containers to earn $0.10/ Container. The $0.10 will be reflected in Recyclobot mobile application wallet as Points.

After reaching a certain threshold users can transfer their points to their registered bank account or donate them to the charity associated with Recyclobot.

Note:

  • 1 Point = 10 cent
  • 1 container = 1 Point (10 Cents)

How do I use the Bot?

Why should I scan the barcode to the bot scanner?

By scanning the user's unique barcode in the mobile application to the bot scanner, our bot will identify the user. So once the user deposited the container their refunds will be reflected in the Recyclobot mobile app.

Why should I use Recyclobot “Bot”?

Our Bots are designed in such a way that is very convenient and take very less time to deposit the eligible containers. The users can get $0.10 for depositing each eligible container. Every container deposited in our Bot will be taken directly to our recycling partners to recycle. This will help reduce the landfills.

How to check container eligibility?

Scan the container barcode in the Recyclobot mobile application to ensure the container is registered in the Recyclobot database. If it is registered you can see the text saying “This container is eligible for a refund”. If it says “At the moment we are unable to recycle this container” then the container is not eligible for a refund.

What are the containers we accept?

Look for the 10c refund label printed on the plastic bottles, aluminium cans, and cardboard cartons. Scan the container barcode in the Recyclobot mobile application to ensure we accept that container. If it is not registered in our system you can submit a request to add the container to the system to accept it for a $0.10 refund. We will verify the container and add it to the system within 1-2 Business Days.

What are the containers we do not accept?

We do not accept recyclable glass bottles and containers without a barcode intact or crushed or not empty.

Can I crush my cans?

No, please return the empty containers uncrushed with the barcode intact.

Do I need to take the container lids off?

As long as containers are empty, uncrushed with a clear label and barcode intact you can return the container either with or without a lid.

How to deposit the container in the Bot?

Click start from the screen and scan the barcode in the Recyclobot app to the bot barcode scanner. Once the machine identifies the customer, it will open the door to deposit. Put the empty uncrushed container in the conveyor. Once the machine identifies the bottle it will take the bottle. Keep depositing one bottle at a time into the machine.

What happens if the containers have no barcode?

The container should have a label with an intact barcode for the bot to identify the container to accept it. If the barcode is not intact then the bot will not accept the container even though it is recyclable.

What to do if an eligible container is not accepted by Bot?

Make sure the container is eligible for a $0.10 refund by locating the $0.10 label. Then scan the container barcode in the Recyclobot mobile application to ensure the container is registered in the Recyclobot database. If it is not registered in our database you can submit a request to add the container to the database to accept it for a $0.10 refund. We will verify the container and add it to the system within 1-2 Business Days. Once added you can deposit the containers.
